These are an easy fix for our patients who have lost teeth and even teeth which are severely damaged. These are fixed prosthetic devices which are used to replace teeth or to “cap” existing damaged teeth. 

Crowns: 

Crowns are what “Cap” the tooth and have many uses. They are made from full porcelain and are fused to metal for strength. Crowns may be necessary to protect a weak tooth from fracturing, to strengthen the structure of the tooth and to cover a tooth which has had root canal or a dental implant. They are also required when the tooth has decayed too much that a regular filling is no longer an option. Crowns are all about stengthing and imporving apperance. The procelin and ceramic crowns can be matched to your existing tooth colour and formed to look like the top of your actual tooth. The crown is fitted with dental cement or adhesive.

Bridges: 

Bridges are for patients with one or more teeth missing. When there is too much of a gap between teeth, it can cause an imbalance and a shift in rotation for the remaining teeth. Bridges will prevent this from happening, or if already starting to happen, bridges can help re align your teeth and put them back to the strong structure they should be. Bridges span the space where teeth are missing. Similar to crowns bridges are cemented down to create a full teeth look where the missing teeth once were. There are different materials used for bridging and these can also be matched with your natural teeth colour.

Why check up’s are so important: 

We advice to keep your teeth and gums in a healthy condition, that you come into us for regular check ups and teeth cleansing appointmnets. Depending on the up keep of your oral hygiene and the condition of your teeth and gums will differ how regular or not so regular you will need to come in for your routine check ups. For the majority of patients, we would advice a check up every 6 months. 

These check ups are also a check up on you and a good assessment for us to see if you have been keeping up with your oral hygiene at home. Although we do our abolsoute best to ensure you teeth and gums are in their best conditions, we do also require you to maintain this whilst your not in the hands of us. Whilst your in your appointments with us, our hygenists can give you the best tips and advice catered to your teeth and gum’s condition and will also advice any necessary action that may need to be taken. 

If you can’t always figure out or notice if something’s wrong with your oral health these check up’s are great for us to spot anything that may not be too obvious, and to get you the right level of treatment your teeth and gums need. Gum’s are just as important as the teeth to maintain, but are often forgotten. We want to minimise risk of gum disease so will always advice that flossing and brushing your gums should be incorporated into your daily routine. 

The clean:

We love a good clean. Our dental professionals will professionaly clean your teeth using various instruments, removing any plaque and and tartar in the process to. This gets rid of all the build up and also prevents cavaties, gingivitis and periodontal disease.

Root Canals:

The root canal is also commonly known as the endodontic treatment. The process of this procedure is more complex. The root of the tooth also known as the pulb, has become infected. This infection lies within the nerve tissue. As highly experienced proffesionals, we extract the infected pulb and then fill the canal with a specially crafted filling to fit your tooth. Once the canal has been filled and sealed, your tooth will have full prevention of any future infection and no bacteria will be able to re enter your canal. Please note that this procedure is performed under local anaesthetic to ensure our patients are in no discomfort during the process. 

Signs you may need a root canal: 

If your teeth are over sensitive or in pain with cold and hot liquids this is an indication. A more accurate indication would be that you are in severe pain when eating and you feel your tooth throbbing continuously. You may have an infection around the problematic tooth as well as an abscess might form. Speak with us urgently if pain continuous as root canal may be the best solution for you.

Signs you may need a filling:

If your tooth becomes extremely sensitive or painful to brush and you struggle to consume cold or hot liquids without it flairing up your level or sensitivity or pain, then you will more than likely be needing a filling.
